No words are really necessary to enjoy the music but for those who find information on the pieces interesting or helpful

Jump Start  was written with the intent of having a lively tune to jump on stage and start playing with. Ironically the theme came out with an extra beat which sometimes throws people off. Once it gets going though everything runs smoothly. Like the engine after a jump-start.

Night Cal  has the feel of an unexpected evening visit, a pleasant one, sort of like a game from childhood played by people who have, in the meantime, grown up a little. A melody with a question mark, which ends with, a small burst of laughter. The introduction and the first part consist of a series of chords, which appear to "stick out" a little as they do not exactly fit the number of bars available.

Cry like me  A jazz ballad which starts in an unstable free time and then settles into a slow groove when the solos start «telling the story». Much like the way feelings settle down after the initial reaction to a painful moment. Perplexity, disbelief, protests, and the quiet sorrow.

The Tango  is a composition I wrote with pianist Caroline Leander inspired by the work of Astor Piazzola in 1989 (that is when his music was not as ubiquitous as it is today).
The beginning occasionally takes a life of it's own as a different piece which we call Tango Meditation.

The Game  based on the piece "Nutty" by Thelonious Monk is a tribute to one of the great composers of modern jazz. As it so often happens in jazz "Nutty" is itself built on the changes of an older swing tune; "Good Bait" by Tad Dameron.

It was the balance I discovered between the artist, his music and the band that showed me the way to the studio. Five inspired compositions played by five excellent musicians led by the composer. A complete musical picture, this record uncovers quality and depth behind the groove, in the sea of quantity and repetition. It was a great experience for me to co-operate with Dimos, coming closer to his material and his belief in music, a belief, which, I am sure, inspires his teaching at the Ionian University. I am satisfied because I had the chance to offer support for this record. Looking forward to his next project.
